Airbags keep you alive!
Airbags are not subject to wear and tear and will often last the life of the vehicle; they only ever normally need replacing if the vehicle has been involved in an accident.
You should note that if an airbag fault light appears on a dashboard, it does not mean that it will inflate whilst you are driving normally but that if you did have an accident then it would not go off. You will need to have the airbag assembly checked out by a qualified professional, but once that is done, you can reset the warning light and airbag module unit. It can be done by editing the airbag units memory
The airbag in your vehicle is an important safety device, and the airbag diagnostic module ensures the proper functioning of your vehicle's airbag. If this module is not functioning properly, your airbag may not deploy during a crash.
The SRS airbag module is often referred to as the airbag computer, 591, derm unit, airbag sensor as well as the diagnostic unit. In most situations, once the airbags have deployed you will need to either replace it with a new or a recycled airbag module.
Once a vehicle has detected impact or deployed any airbag component the airbag module will have stored crash data. Normal diagnostic computers cannot erase this crash data. Professional equipment & technical capability is required to inspect the airbag & deployment system and then remove the crash data from the original airbag module.
